Skiing on the Gitschberg

Experience the snow-covered winter wonderland in Meransen

The Hoferhof is located in the immediate vicinity of the largest skiing area in the Isarco and Wipptal Valley/Eisack- und Wipptal, namely the Gitschberg-Jochtal skiing and alpine region. The diversity of the region guarantees something for everyone, as the winter activities range from adventurous fun on the slopes via fast toboggan parties and culminate in enchanting snowshoe hikes through the snow-covered winter landscape in Meransen.

Skiing fun on the slopes of the Gitschberg

With a total of 51 kilometres of ski slope, which can be easily reached with 16 lifts, the Gitschberg-Jochtal ski region is both manageable and diversified at the same time. Due to the optimally prepared slopes, everyone gets their money’s worth here, beginners as well as experienced skiers and professionals. The ski slopes, consisting of blue, red and black descents, offer ideal pure skiing enjoyment for the entire family. Should you find yourself on the peak of the Gitschberg, you’re then only a few steps away from the viewing platform, so don’t miss this panoramic view of over 500 mountain peaks.

To do something good for your body after a zesty day in the great outdoors, the Alpinpool Meransen is the perfect place to relax and recuperate in the swimming pool and sauna.

Tobogganing on the Gitschberg

For those who prefer tobogganing to skiing, the Gitschberg offers the new toboggan run, the Brimi-Winter-Run. It leads from the Gitschberg mountain station Nesselhütte right into the village of Meransen. At a length of 6.75 kilometres, this toboggan run is one of the longest toboggan runs in South Tyrol. Should the route from the mountain station be too long, you can start off from the middle station instead.

Romantic snowshoe hikes and ski tours

Away from the hustle and bustle and fun on the slopes, you can undertake pleasant snowshoe hikes through the romantic Altfass Valley/Altfasstal or around the village of Meransen and consciously enjoy the deep tranquillity of the peaceful mountains. You can stop off at various alpine huts for something to eat or drink. Likewise, an excursion with the connecting railway from Gitschberg to Vals allows you an unusually reflective hike through the snow-covered alpine village of Fane and shows the village from a completely different side.

Cross-country tours on optimally marked cross-country trails

The cross-country trail on the Rodenecker Alm is exactly the right choice for cross-country skiers wanting to spend a pleasant day on cross-country skis. The latter is approx. 12.5 km in length and has enough places to stop off for something to eat and drink to give yourself a breather. For those preferring to start off on their cross-country tour in the village, there is also an optimally marked cross-country trail in Meransen, which leads to the Bacherhütte.

To ensure you don’t forget your holiday in South Tyrol in a hurry, we recommend a paragliding flight or romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides.
